What about after school activities?
WCPA will establish after-school programs that will enrich the educational experience. Specifically, clubs such as Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, Quiz Bowl, Mock Trial or Robotic Team that promote collaborative learning and develop personal growth will be preferred. The focus of programs that target educational enrichment element is to provide additional learning experiences that are not necessarily included in the core curriculum. WCPA will also have clubs that offer the learning of various forms of arts, such as Art Club, Choir, Dance Club, and Drama Club. WCPA will have a National Honor Society, a student newspaper, a yearbook and a literary magazine.
We will offer just a few teams in our first years. We will offer several after school sports opportunities as intramural teams the first year along with a few sports that can be enjoyed without a large investment and our own sports facilities. We will then build competitive sports teams in which our students have shown interest.
Since WCPA shall have a small number of students the first year and the fact that they will be freshmen and sophomores, we will not be setting up varsity level interscholastic sports team our first years. Instead we will start with JV teams in sports that require little equipment. Also, sports which can be played with smaller teams will be considered. We are planning on softball and volleyball for girls; baseball for boys; soccer, basketball, track, tennis, cross country and golf for both boys and girls.
